Fire Company Suffers Fire of Its Own

MAHANOY CITY -- An early morning fire destroyed a new ladder truck and turnout gear in Mahanoy City around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Officials said the Washington Hook and Ladder Company caught fire on East Mahanoy Avenue.

Authorities said no one was seriously injured and they are still looking for the cause of the fire.

The 59th Annual Schuylkill County Firefighters' Convention will go on as scheduled in Mahanoy City Saturday afternoon despite damages.
