PLAINS -- Friends of Tara Hustey Pisano gathered for a benefit Thursday night at River Grille in Plains.
Those close to Tara said the woman from Shavertown beat cancer once before. As she prepares to fight the disease again, her friends wanted to give her a little financial relief.
"People think that just because you have medical insurance that all of your care will be covered and that's just not the case. Tara's disease is serious and it requires some really serious treatment," said organizer Katy Geraghty Pisan.
Friends said Tara is scheduled to undergo treatments which could have her hospitalized for months.
