SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT -- For the first time, a team from the Czech Republic is playing in the Little League World Series.

The team is representing Europe and Africa.

The Czech team fell short in both of its games but the players and coaches say they are just happy to be in South Williamsport.

The South Moravia little league team made history at the Little League World Series before the players even stepped on the field.  The Europe Africa crew from the Czech Republic is the first team from their country to make it to South Williamsport.

"For me it's a big, big dream," said Czech Republic coach Rene Jurcik. "If somebody told me I would stay here in Williamsport, I didn't believe it, but now I'm here."

"It's so unbelievable for them.  I cannot say into words.  It's great," added Czech Republic coach Pavel Chadim.

The team is a long way from home.  Brno, near Prague in the Czech Republic, is about 4,300 miles from South Williamsport.

"I like this sports arena, many shops, and the area," said Christian Geidl.

"Sports arena, the shops and the people," said Krystof Hruza.

It's been a week full of firsts for the Czech Republic team.  It's their first time in the United States, and the first time tasting American foods.  Most of the kids say pizza is their favorite.

"What kind of food have you been liking here?"
"Salad," said Martin Svimalek.
"You like the salad here?"
"Yes."

The only girl in this year's Little League World Series, Eliska Stejskalova, is on the Czech team.

"Great, it's great," she said.

Even though the team from the Czech Republic lost its first two games at the Little League World Series, they have several "fun games" on the agenda.  The players say it is the experience of a lifetime.
