Scranton Knights’ White Knight Jake McCarthy

One team that just fell short of the countdown this year, and could be a sleeper, is Scranton.  They're one of the most talented teams in the history of the Lackawanna football conference and lost a lot to graduation.

Only three starters return on each side of the ball, but the Knights have 80 players on the team.  They will definitely find some starters on the line to go with some good skill kids.

What Scranton does have is quite possibly the best running back in our area in Jake McCarthy.  Last season, McCarthy joined Henry Hynoski, Eugene Lewis, and John Klingerman as the only players to make WNEP-TV "Dream Team" as sophomores.

Jake rushed for 1,745 yards and 24 touchdowns last season.  His supporting cast is missing, but McCarthy will be the man, following in the footsteps of his dad and brother, both named Joe, that starred in football before taking the baseball route in college.
