PLYMOUTH -- A man from Luzerne County is charged with homicide by vehicle for allegedly hitting and killing another man with his car Wednesday night in Plymouth.

Police say this could be more than just an accident.

It began around 8 p.m. on Nottingham Street in Plymouth.

Lorenzo Burgos, 21, of Plymouth is now charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, and several other related charges.

Police believe he hit Fred Kleman, 42, of Plymouth on Nottingham Street.

Neighbors said Kleman tapped Burgos' car as he drove by, yelling at him to slow down.

Burgos allegedly came back a few minutes later and swerved his car at a group of bystanders.

According to court documents, Burgos got out of his car after he hit Kleman and threatened to kill him with a metal bar. Burgos then took off and was later picked up by police at a store.

"He swerved and we were standing, like, right there," said neighbor Michael Olexy."Me and my buddy got out of the way and I told him 'Hurry up, let's get out of here' and we jumped to the grass and Fred got hit and he went flying down maybe about 50 feet."

An autopsy on Kleman is scheduled for later on Thursday.

Burgos is locked up in Luzerne County.
