DALLAS -- A 5k and walk in Luzerne County was held Sunday to benefit an organization that helps people in crisis.
The Pauly Friedman 5k Family Walk/Run stepped off at Misericordia University Sunday morning.
It's the fifth year for the event that benefits Family Services Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The organization has seen its call volume increase greatly in the past two years and began the walk/run to help after cuts in state funding.
"All of the proceeds from this event help support our help line program, which is our 24-hour, 7-day a week information referral and crisis access service, explained Michael Zimmerman of Family Services Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Newswatch 16's Julie Sidoni was an emcee for the event.
Organizers hoped to raise $15,000 for the cause.
