HONESDALE -- People in Wayne County were invited to feel what it was like behind bars more than 150 years ago.

Today the County historical society opened up the old stone jail in Honesdale.

The jail, which was built in 1858, has no running water, and was the site of several executions.

"There were 5 hangings here," said Kelly Alogna. "The last one being roughly 126 years ago.  It was the James McCabe trial  he was accused of murdering somebody here in Wayne County and he was hanged for his crime."

The Wayne County historical society opens the old stone jail every first Saturday of the month through October. The next tour is on September 7th.
