TUNKHANNOCK — A Wyoming County judge’s ruling has cleared the way for laid off teachers in the Tunkhannock Area School District to be hired back.
The teacher’s union filed legal action when 32 teachers were furloughed last year.
Rallies were held in the community in support of the teachers.
An arbitrator sided with the union earlier this year, but the district appealed.
On Thursday, Judge Brendan Vanston agreed with the arbitrator in favor of the teachers and ordered the district to offer immediate reinstatement to all suspended Tunkhannock area employees and give them back pay.
The is no word from the district on what that will cost.
