WILKES-BARRE — The city of Wilkes-Barre announced additional temporary road closures around the site of Hotel Sterling for Tuesday because of demolition work on the building on North River Street.

The City issued a press release that announced the following road closures will be in effect by 6 a.m. Tuesday.

· North river street, beginning at the Jackson Street entrance just past the Luzerne County courthouse through the Market Street intersection.

· West Market Street to Frazer Lane.

· The northbound lane of South River Street will be closed from Northampton Street to the Market Street intersection.

The mayor’s office says drivers entering Wilkes-Barre on North River Street will be directed to turn left on Jackson Street and utilize North Main Street to gain access to the downtown and surrounding areas.

The southbound lane of South River Street will be open for Market Street bridge traffic only.

The city says Guard Insurance employees will have access to Frazer Lane by turning left off of South Franklin Street.
