ELYSBURG — Fire damaged a garage and closed part of Route 54 in the Elysburg area of Northumberland County Sunday afternoon.
Route 54 is also North Market Street in Elysburg. Emergency dispatchers say a garage on that part of the road caught fire.
A Newswatch 16 crew on the scene said the fire happened in a garage behind Vic’s Transmission. The owner of Vic’s says the garage used to be a glass company and is not associated with his business.
No one was hurt, but an employee at Vic’s says two of his personal vehicles were destroyed. The man reportedly rented the garage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A small section of North Market Street in Elysburg was closed for a while because of the fire.
