HAZLETON -- The Hazleton Area School District covers parts of three counties: Luzerne, Carbon, and Schuylkill. A communications problem triggered Tuesday's special election.

Eight people wanted a seat on the Hazleton Area School Board. One dropped out before the May primary, but Luzerne County never told Schuylkill and Carbon. The candidate who withdrew was still on the ballot in those other counties.

Luzerne County judges ordered a special election.  This time, with the "right" ballot.  Not everyone can go to the polls Tuesday.  The special election covers McAdoo, North Union, East Union and Kline Townships in Schuylkill County.  In Carbon County, it's Beaver Meadows and Banks Township.

Only people who voted in May can re-vote. Eligible voters should have received letters in the mail.

And like normal Pennsylvania elections, the polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
