SOUTH CENTRE TOWNSHIP -- Investigators said Saturday night Brett Woodside, 26, stabbed and killed his friend from elementary school, Brandon Burns, 24.

Police said Burns, Woodside, and two female friends were having a get-together in a house on Old Berwick Road when the two men got into an argument that turned physical.

Witnesses said Woodside took a knife from his pocket and stabbed Burns in the abdomen before the victim ran into the street and collapsed.

Burns later died at the hospital.

Woodside was taken to the State Police barracks for questioning, where investigators said he confessed to the crime and even admitted he told the victim "Sorry, Bro, Sorry," and tried to cover the knife wound with paper towels.

Woodside is also accused of hiding the knife in a laundry basket in an upstairs bedroom of the house.

Woodside faces charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence.

He has a preliminary court date in Berwick July 31.
