HUGHESVILLE -- A much anticipated event in Lycoming County is back! The Lycoming County Fair kicked off Friday. The fair is in its 143rd year.

Rides, food, animals, it all means one thing: the Lycoming County Fair is in full swing!

"I like going on the rides pretty much the whole time," said Tristin Miller.

"We do it every year. It's always good food, and we find pretty good deals here," Kenny Stewart said.

The Lycoming County Fair in Hughesville is in its 143rd year. Vendors spent day one of the fair putting the finishing touches on their stands. The Turbotville Lions Club has been part of the fair for more than 20 years.

"It is a lot of fun. You meet a lot of people. It's a lot of hard work. Each year it gets a little harder because you get a little older," Ashley Reasner said.

Fair organizers said this year brings some new vendors and entertainment. Fairgoers can hear country music, watch a motocross show, and see bull riding. Katy Snyder hopes her sheep win a prize this year.

"They're in the breeding class so they'll be against other different breeds of sheep. We compete to see who has the best ewe and who has the best ram," said Snyder.

Lycoming County Fair officials expect thousands of people to come to the fair. Mark Vanbuskirk and his wife Michelle grew up near Hughesville, and are visiting from Georgia.

"It's been a few years since we've been here and we like the food that's here. We like all the attractions. We go in all the barns and check out everything," said Vanbuskirk.

It costs $6 to get in to the Lycoming County Fair, and it's $2 to park at the fairgrounds. The fair runs from now until July 20.
