WHITE DEER TOWNSHIP -- A church in central Pennsylvania is cleaning up damage after vandals hit the place and made a mess of the property, not once but twice.
Pastors at God's Missionary Church near New Columbia walked into their place of worship and found a broken door, a hole in the ceiling, graffiti on the walls, and a big mess.
"Two nights in a row," Senior Pastor Matt Ellison said.
God's Missionary Church was broken into and vandalized Tuesday night and Wednesday night.
Senior Pastor Matt Ellison believes there is more than $4,000 in damage. He says the thieves climbed through the ceiling and literally fell into his office. The pastor found graffiti, and the church's American Flag thrown on the floor.
"Urinated all over our electronics, put water all over our electronics, ruined our copier and laptop, paper shredders, modems. Just a lot of nuisance stuff," Ellison said.
The pastor says the vandals used the same door to break into the church both times. The church is taking extra precautions to make sure it doesn't happen again.
"We've been on the phone today with some security people and security will be installed ASAP," Ellison said.
State police say the vandals did not take cash that was inside the church, just candy. The incidents left the church members shaken.
"Here's a church, a place to come to have solace and help. It's supposed to be peaceful. You come in and now you don't know what could happen in the future," Assistant Pastor Stephen Miller said.
State police found the vandals' fingerprints at the church. Police believe both break-ins are related.
Church members say they are praying for the vandals to confess.
