SCRANTON---Scranton police said around 2 a.m. Monday, two men wearing masks and dark clothing walked into the 24-hour CVS on Moosic Street.

Investigators said one of those men showed a gun and forced an employee to hand over prescription drugs from the pharmacy.

Cops said the men then took off.

It is the third armed robbery here in the past year or so, according to police.

People who shop at the pharmacy were not surprised by the news.

"I guess it's a sign of the times. People are looking for, looking for drugs. This is quick access, on and off onto the interstate and Moosic Street, so there's a lot of good escape routes," said Bill Jackowitz of Scranton.

"Being close to the interstate would make it an easier target, and it's open 24 hours," said Marty Flannery of Scranton.

Scranton detectives said the place was robbed in March of last year and again in June of this year.

Police believe the same person could be responsible for both of those crimes. They said it is too early to tell if the latest robbery is related.

In March and June, the robber, described as a white male in his 30s, about 5'8" with a shaved or bald head, driving a tan or gold Jeep, showed a gun and stole prescription painkillers.

"There's a demand for it, you know what I mean, and if people need to get it, if they're open 24 hours, there's always going to be someone there to hand it to them," said Ryan Shupp of Duryea.

People Newswatch 16 spoke with said, when it really comes down to it,they cannot think of any way to keep the robbers away for good.

"Park a police car across the street. I don't know, can't think of anything else, a cage," said Shupp.
