MONTROSE – Motorcycles made their way through Montrose, kicking off the biggest red white and blue celebrations in Susquehanna County. Children, family and friends say it’s a celebration they never want to miss.
"It's a lot of fun, you get to see people you know and honor the fourth of July, our day of Independence,” said Ray Ingaglio of Hop Bottom.
Ingaglio and his family decorated their Jeep for the day and even dressed up the family dog, Theo.
"He's got the blue-collar and the red so he's good for the holiday," said Lisa Ingaglio of Hop Bottom.
The packed streets here in Susquehanna County watched as veterans, bands and even a bagpipe band from Scranton marched down Church Street.
We do a lot of the firemen's picnics, community parades and everyone loves the bagpipes, we love to perform, and it's a just a way to get out and be a crowd pleaser, be part of every community," said Suzie George of the Greater Scranton Black Diamonds Bagpipe Band.
For many here in Montrose the 4th of July isn’t just about this big celebration, it's also a big business day.
June of June’s Gems is originally from the Montrose Area and sets up on the Green right next to the Susquehanna County Courthouse each Independence Day. She says after being in business for about 30 years this is one of her favorite spots to sell jewelry.
"Yes we've done very well and it is, and it's nice because I know the girls that come back every year, I have repeat business most of them come back,” said June James.
Many believe the crowds here on the Green and lining the Parade Route show just how much people in Susquehanna County love the land of the free.
"It shows how much, how patriotic and how supportive this area is of our nation,” said Ingaglio.
