DALLAS -- It's been six years since a staple in the Back Mountain was open for business, until now. The Beaumont Inn in Dallas held its grand opening today after undergoing a huge renovation and restoration this year.

It's a place people in the Back Mountain know well. Built in 1948, The Beaumont Inn was a place to eat, drink, and get away on weekends. After shutting its doors along Route 309 in Dallas six years ago, now it's back.

"I drove by this many, many times, and I'm thrilled that I had an opportunity to buy it," said owner Rob Freidman.

Owner Rob Freidman says he had his work cut out for him.

To keep some of the history alive here at The Beaumont Inn, there's a wall of photos dating back to the 1940's in the main lobby. But this isn't the only thing restored from the original building.

"The glass blocks in the bar. The bar was built in 1948," said Freidman.

"Brought back memories. The place is almost identical to the way I remember it 20 years ago when I used to come in on a regular basis every weekend," said Jim Reino, of Shavertown.

But there is some new mixed in with the old. The 10 rooms upstairs were renovated, and out back, a new patio. Freidman hopes to hold small weddings and events here, and still keep the inn, restaurant and lounge going strong.

"I used to come for brunch or dinner. It was a great staple in the back mountain and it was disappointing when it closed," said Cynthia Post, of Dallas.

So former regulars like Cynthia Post will become regulars again.

"I was so excited. I couldn't wait to get here. I booked a party already," said Post.
