PALMYRA TOWNSHIP — A crash early Saturday morning in Wayne County left a teenager dead.
According to state police, the wreck happened shortly after 3 a.m. near the intersection of Long Ridge Road and Ridge Avenue in Palmyra Township, just north of Hawley.
The Wayne County Coroner identifies the victim as Jacob Daniels, 17, of Hawley.
Troopers say Daniels lost control of his car. It went up an embankment and rolled several times. Daniels died at the scene.
The Forest Volunteer Fire Department near Hawley says Daniels was a junior firefighter. The department in Pike County plans to give profits and donations from Saturday night’s pig roast to the Daniels family.
