BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — The body of a man missing since Thursday’s torrential rains was recovered Saturday afternoon in Clinton County.

Claude Rupert, 86, of Beech Creek Township was swept away when heavy rain caused Sugar Run Creek to flood. His family said he was out in the storm trying to get to his four-wheeler.

Rescue crews and family members searched for Rupert Thursday night and Friday.

State police report that, around 2:30 Saturday afternoon, three kayakers found Rupert’s body on an island in Bald Eagle Creek near Mill Hall.
