SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP — A reported attempted abduction is under investigation in Monroe County.
State police say the incident happened around 6:00 Friday evening as a 20-year-old woman walked along Route 447 near East Stroudsburg.
Troopers say a man driving a black four-door sedan drove beside her and asked if she needed a ride. She said no. The man then pulled off the road in front of her, and grabbed her arm as she walked by.
State police say the woman was able to break free. She ran to a nearby house for help.
The driver of the car is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-30s with black hair and a black mustache. The car he was driving was said to be in poor condition.
