WILKES-BARRE --Wyoming Valley RiverFest 2013 hits Luzerne County once again and Newswatch 16's Amanda Kelley was there Friday to preview the annual event along the Susquehanna River.

This year, RiverFest is set for June 21-23, 2013.

Friday, June 21, 2013 - Wilkes-Barre River Common (6pm- 9pm)
Join the opening ceremonies and live music on the River Common!
Free Family Fishing on the Pier, Paint a Community Mural, Food Vendors and More! Live Musical Performances from Classic Rock Express and Don Shappelle and the Pickups .

See the Valley from a Different Point of View – Paddle the Susquehanna River from West Pittston to Wilkes-Barre (5pm-7pm) - See info below to sign up for River Trips.

Saturday, June 22, 2013 – Join the Festival at Nesbitt Park from Noon to 5pm

Enjoy an Afternoon of Fun and Activities for All Ages! Children’s Art & Nature Programs, Live Mammals Program, Pony Rides (12:30-4pm), Moon Bounce, Guided Nature Hikes, Kayaking Demos, Dragon Boat Team Training and more!

1:30pm Live Mammals of the Watershed Program in Nesbitt Park

Paddle the Susquehanna River from Harding to Wilkes-Barre (8am-2pm)

Polka on the Commons (6pm – 9pm)
Join Stanky and the Coalminers for an evening of Polka along the Susquehanna at the River Common

Sunday, June 23, 2013 – Dragon Boat Racing on the Susquehanna River (10am – 3pm)
View Local Dragon Boat Teams as the Race on the Susquehanna River. Teams from Sallie Mae, PNC Bank, Guard Insurance, Luzerne Bank, PA American Water, Parker Hill Church, Blue Cross, and the City of Wilkes-Barre.Parker Hill Church Dragon Boat Team

River Trip – Paddle the Susquehanna from Wilkes-Barre to Hunlock Creek (8am-2pm)

What better way to Celebrate River’s Month. Whether you are a novice to paddling or an experienced kayaker, join one of the 3 trips we have planned for RiverFest Weekend.

  • Friday, June 21 – Evening Paddle from West Pittston to Wilkes-Barre – Shuttle busses leave Nesbitt Park Friday afternoon at 4pm
  • Saturday, June 22 – Northern Wyoming Valley – Daylong paddle from Harding to Wilkes-Barre – Shuttle busses leave Nesbitt Park at 7:3oam
  • Sunday, June 23 – Southern Wyoming Valley – Daylong paddle from Wilkes-Barre to Hunlock Creek – Shuttle Busses leave Hunlock Creek (Drive-Inn Theatre) at 7:45am
