HAZLETON -- The police chief in Hazleton released a picture of a puppy that he says was stolen from the animal shelter in Luzerne County last week.
The dog was safely returned to the SPCA in Plains Township Tuesday.
Police recovered the animal from a woman in Hazleton who allegedly stole the puppy and hid it in her purse.
Officials at the SPCA say the puppy is not yet ready to be adopted.
