BEAVERTOWN -- Songs and sunshine at the Beavertown Carnival grounds in Snyder County, all to celebrate the legacy of Davy Jones.

While the member of the Monkees was born in Britain, he fell in love with Beavertown when he stopped over during a tour in the late 1980's. Reminded of the countryside near Manchester, he purchased a stately house with plenty of room for his beloved horses.

After he died last year fans gathered at the carnival grounds that bordered his property for a memorial. This year many of those same people gathered in the same spot for a happier occasion, a celebration that included the unveiling of a prototype for a life-sized statue of Jones. The finished product with be displayed inside an old church on North Orange Street. At the time of his death he was in the midst of renovations, and the project is still in the works.

For Jones' four daughters who were all in attendance on Saturday, joining with fans in a rousing version of "Daydream Believer" is the best way they can imagine to celebrate Fathers Day.
