Plaque Unveiled To Honor Hero

OLYPHANT — A borough in Lackawanna County is honoring one of its own hometown heroes.

Community leaders in Olyphant unveiled a plaque Friday morning in honor of the late John Morelli.

Morelli was a veteran of the Korean conflict and recipient of the bronze star.

He served as the longest-standing Sergeant of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery.

The plaque is up along Lackawanna Avenue in Olyphant.
