UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State announced Friday that fans will not be allowed to bring any kind of bags, including purses, into Beaver Stadium this fall.

The university banned bags at the spring Blue White football scrimmage at the stadium in April. That was just after the bombing at the Boston Marathon.

Now the university is expanding that to all athletic events on campus, including football games.  We couldn’t find fans who were against that change.

“Too many things could happen at a big event like that. All it would take is one bomb or a person with a gun and then it would be a catastrophe,” said William Holland of Lock Haven.

Penn State says it is putting safety first. One clear gallon plastic bag with medical or child care items will be permitted.
