PINE TOWNSHIP -- People in part of Columbia County are grieving the loss of a woman who died after being thrown from a horse cart.

The woman's husband was also involved in the accident and is listed in critical condition at a local hospital.

Police say David and Linda Craver were riding in a cart, pulled by one of their horses Wednesday night near Millville.  The horse stopped responding to commands, ran down a steep hill, and the cart flipped over.  Linda was killed. David was seriously hurt.

"It's very hard to talk about. She was a very good neighbor."

Stacha Eichenlaub and many of her neighbors are sad and in shock after the sudden death of Linda Craver.

Police say Linda and her husband David were riding in a two-wheel cart pulled by a horse on their property near Millville around 7 p.m. Wednesday. The horse stopped responding to commands, ran down a steep hill throwing Linda and David out of the cart.

"We actually saw them go out on the road here earlier before the accident.  Of course, later the accident occurred.  It was just her and her husband.  They were out on a ride enjoying themselves," said neighbor Rod Pursel.

Neighbors said Linda was very passionate about horses.  She and her husband David rode them often and were both very experienced riders.

"Last month we all got together and went to Gettysburg and rode the trails.  There were 11 of us.  It's strictly pleasure.  We like to go ride horses and go out and about," Pursel said.

According to neighbors, the couple often took rides in the cart.  It was pulled by "Peaches" the horse.

"They only had the horse about two weeks and she was doing very good with the pony cart," Eichenlaub said.

Eichenlaub and other neighbors say they are devastated by what happened.

"She's going to be very missed.  I just ask everyone to pray for her husband and children."

David Craver is listed in critical condition at Geisinger Medical Center near Danville.  Peaches the horse is OK and was with the couple's other horses Thursday on their property in Columbia County.
