WILLIAMSPORT—Williamsport police and state troopers spent hours at an apartment building on West Fourth Street Thursday afternoon after a man died from a gunshot wound.

Investigators said they got a call just after 2 p.m. Thursday about an unknown medical problem inside an apartment building on West Fourth Street. When they arrived, they said they found a man inside on a couch with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim, Donte Marks, was taken to Williamsport Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Williamsport police say Da’ran Sears was inside the apartment and was handling a gun when it went off and shot Marks in the chest.

Sears has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and receiving stolen property.

Police say the gun that killed Marks was stolen.

Police also searched the apartment and say they found several other firearms.

Sears is locked up in the Lycoming County Prison with bail set at $750,000.

Sears is due back in court next week to face charges in Lycoming County.
