HAZLETON — Police in Hazleton cuffed a man who they said attacked Emergency Medical Service workers then fled from officers.

According to authorities, Nicholas Cusatis, 28, of Sugarloaf was passed out behind the wheel of a van on Cleveland Street in Hazleton around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said when EMS personnel tried to revive Cusatis, he woke up and struck the workers.  He then ran away from the area.

Officers were able to stop him in the 500 block of East Diamond Avenue and found drug paraphernalia in his possession.

He faces a slew of charges and is locked up.
