HAZLE TOWNSHIP -- Governor Corbett has nominated a former Luzerne County judge to a seat on the State Supreme Court.
Correale Stevens was nominated Thursday.
If confirmed by the State Senate, Stevens would fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of Joan Orie Melvin.
Stevens is from the Hazleton area and Newswatch 16 caught up with him on Thursday to talk about the nomination.
Stevens said, "My roots are in the area my grandmother worked in a munitions factory, my grandfather stevens was a city policeman and my roots are in the area and i love the people in the area and i'll do my best."
Stevens currently serves as President Judge of the State Superior Court.
