PLYMOUTH -- UPDATE: Service has been restored to all customers by Monday morning. The boil advisory remains until further notice.

About 6,700 Pennsylvania American Water customers are under a boil advisory after a fire hydrant broke in Luzerne County.

Firefighters and UGI crews were at West Shawnee Avenue and Nottingham Street in Plymouth Sunday morning, as the hydrant spewed water into the air.

According to Pennsylvania American Water, a tractor trailer struck the hydrant, causing low water levels in storage tanks.

Customers in Plymouth, Courtdale, Pringle, Larksville and Edwardsville should boil their water before drinking it until further notice.

Water tankers have been placed at the Courtdale municipal building and at the end of North Street in Pringle.

There is no word on how long it will take to fix the hydrant.
