WILLIAMSPORT -- A jury came down hard on a Williamsport City Police Detective on Thursday.

After a three-day civil trial, Agent Raymond Kontz was found liable for taking more than 600 Little League collector's pins from a couple in 2008.

Jurors awarded the couple more than $50,000 in damages.

Prosecutors accused Kontz of lying by claiming Little League told police the pins were being sold over the internet without permission.

Kontz was a captain in charge of the criminal investigation division at the time.

It's not clear yet if the city will be responsible to pay the full amount.

In a statement, Williamsport Mayor Gabe Campana said, "I'm very disappointed in the jury's decision. I still believe agent Kontz is an honest, good man."
