HARRISBURG -- Governor Tom Corbett is answering criticisms of Pennsylvania's roads, one day after a report ripped the roads in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area.
The report is from a group backed by road equipment manufacturers and insurance companies.
It states that drivers in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre spend an extra $1,300 a year sitting in construction-related tie-ups, burning gasoline and paying for auto repairs.
Governor Corbett says the state has to find new ways to fund road and bridge maintenance, replacement and repairs.
"That's the one thing that I really focus on when I talk about transportation is public safety. We have 1.5 million children getting on buses every day and, as we continue to point out, we have more than 4,000 structurally deficient bridges."
The group that compiled the report is called The Road Information Program (TRIP).
