MOSCOW -- It was closing day for a popular library in Lackawanna County but in a week it will reopen in a brand new building.

To wrap up 28 years at the old location for the North Pocono Library, the place held a grand finale story time for kids.

For one last time, parents and kids filed into the cramped children's reading room at the North Pocono Library in Moscow .

After nearly three decades of learning through song and, of course, reading, this was the final kids' story time in this building.

"We wouldn't miss this day for the world."

Ann Hollenbeck and 5-year-old Emma are among many moms, dads and kids who have spent a lot of time here.

"I like to read books and have fun at there," Emma said.

"I have very fond memories at this library," said Ann Hollenbeck. "She's been coming here since she was a little baby.  We did laptop, lapsit with Miss Kelly and we've been coming to this story time for years now."

Miss Kelly - Kelly Pulice - led the boys and girls on a final parade through the old library to say goodbye before it closed at noon.  She has enjoyed leading story time there, but knows this place is pretty small compared to what's to come.

"Very cramped. Very, very cramped, but everyone really enjoys it.  Everyone knows how small we are and everyone loves it.  It's still going to be much nicer though at the new library."

Library Director Susan Jeffery showed us around the new library, including the new home for story time: a special tree and a lot more space.

"What a difference a day makes.  I know you were over at the old library as we were closing the doors on that," she said. "I am so excited I just shake inside.  It is just so amazing to make this a reality."

In a week, the new library in Moscow will be filled with books and readers.

"We're very, very excited," Hollenbeck said. "It's right down the street from our house so it's nice and close.  My little girl is starting kindergarten in the fall so it's going to be a wonderful resource."

The new $3 million library is scheduled to open next Tuesday.  It is just off the Moscow exit of Interstate 380.
