FREEBURG — Fire destroyed the former Freeburg Auction House in Snyder County Saturday evening.

The fire broke out shortly after 7 p.m. in the building on East Market Street in Freeburg. Officials said the fire appears to have started on the second floor, where there were apartments.

The fire forced two people from their homes. They are being helped by the Red Cross.

The fire also damaged homes on either side of the building.

Crews from Snyder, Juniata, Perry, Union and Northumberland counties helped battle the flames Saturday night in Freeburg.
