HAZLETON — Police filed a slew of charges against a man they say crashed into a business in Hazleton then bit one witness and dragged another with his car.

Police arrested Juan Rodriguez, 21, of Hazleton on Saturday afternoon. He faces charges including disorderly conduct and driving under the influence.

According to police, it was around 1 p.m. Saturday when Rodriguez drove a car through the front wall of the Abbey Coffee House on South Poplar Street in Hazleton. The building sustained extensive damage.

Police say a witness who tried to stop Rodriguez was dragged by the car down Keifer Avenue. The witness was not seriously hurt.

When police arrived, Rodriguez began fighting with other witnesses, even biting one of them.

Rodriguez was locked up in the Luzerne County Prison.
