SCRANTON — In a crowded race for Lackawanna County judge, a magisterial district judge from the Abingtons has come out on top.

James Gibbons has won both the Republican and Democratic ticket.

“We had hoped to be in this position, but you never know what’s going to happen. We ran against a lot of great candidates. They’re all very good, qualified candidates, so you never know what’s going to happen when you’re up against tough completion like that,” Gibbons said.

The other candidates in the race for county judge were Alyce Farrell, Tim Kelly, Donna Davis Javitz and Patti Grande Rieder.

All candidates were cross-filed on the Republican and Democratic tickets.
