COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP -- One man is dead after a crash in Monroe County on Sunday, according to police.

The coroner confirmed Michael West, 55, of Stroudsburg, was pronounced dead at the crash scene shortly after noon.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said West was driving a taxi van on Route 196 near Tobyhanna, when he lost control around a curve and slid into the path of an oncoming Coolbaugh Township Volunteer Fire Company vehicle.

There were no passengers in the taxi van, but four emergency personnel from the emergency vehicle were taken to the hospital with injuries.

The Monroe County coroner said there will be an autopsy on West on Monday in Monroe County.
