POTTSVILLE -- It appears now that Monday's deadly fire in Pottsville did not start from a wood stove, and it looks as there were no smoke alarms in the home.

Investigators also believe the fire had been smoldering for quite some time.  And they feel, had there been working smoke alarms, the family would have had time to escape.

Emotions are still intense over the fire that killed six in Pottsville.

The blaze started on Mother's Day.

The bodies of Eric Brown, his sister-in-law, and his four children were found in the rubble.

Their mother, Kelly Brown, was not at home at the time.

Since then a makeshift memorial has grown.  It's filled with everything from balloons to stuffed animals.

Peggyann Dougherty, a relative, said it was important for her to visit the memorial.

"I think it's very important to show the kids that they were loved and there not going to be forgotten, they're not going to be forgotten."

The outpouring of support can also be found at the Schuylkill Haven funeral home where arrangements are being made. Elmer Ebling said he will not charge the family.

"Here is a tragedy and the sad part about it that no one asked for whatsoever and it's a way I can give back personally in a situation like this."

Caitlyn Ebling said dealing with the four child victims is difficult.

"The emotions are so high that you're sitting with a family and talking with the family and you'd never want to personally experience and you just feel awful that the family you're sitting with is going through it."

As far as the cause and manner of death of the fire victims, the coroner's office is listing it as pending. That's because they're waiting for more test results to come back and police have to do more interviews.
