Police Standoff Causes School Delay

SOUTH WAVERLY -- An overnight standoff between an armed man and state police in Bradford County came to a close Tuesday morning.

Troopers said it began Monday night when an armed man barricaded himself in a home on Williams Street in South Waverly.

According to published reports, the man was arrested around 7:45 a.m.

Troopers said an elementary school was near the scene.  The Sayre Area superintendent placed the school district into a two-hour delay as a safety precaution.
