Wind Hampers Efforts of Firefighters

BLOOMING GROVE — Fire destroyed a home in Pike County Sunday morning. State police say high winds made it difficult for firefighters to get a handle on the flames.

According to troopers, the fire started shortly before 9 a.m. at a home in Hemlock Farms in Blooming Grove. A woman in the home at the time noticed smoke coming from the bedroom.

Crews from several companies responded, but the could not save the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but state police say it appears to be accidental.
