SCRANTON — A woman from Scranton became a new mom just as Mother’s Day began.
At 12:02 a.m. on Sunday, Alyssa Large gave birth to baby Francis at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton.
Alyssa was in labor for 27 hours before her son finally arrived. He weighed in at just under nine pounds.
Francis is the first child for Alyssa and the baby’s father, also named Francis.
At Geisinger Medical Center near Danville, the hospital welcomed Piper Jade Doyle at 2:15 on Mother’s Day morning. She weighed more than seven pounds.
Piper is the third child for Rebecca and Michael Doyle of Mount Carmel.
