Former Governor Leader Dead At 95

HERSHEY — Pennsylvania’s oldest living former governor has passed away.

George Leader rose from humble roots on his parents chicken farm to serve as governor back in the 1950s.

Leader was only 37 when he took office in 1955.

After he left office, he founded a chain of retirement communities that bear his name.

According to a spokesman, he died Thursday morning at one of those retirement homes in Hershey.

George Leader was 95 years old.
