Tessa Barrett a junior track and field long distance runner won the 1600 meter run on Tuesday night at the 2013 Bob Spagna Track and Field championships. Barrett set a new meet record in the 1600 by winning in 4:55.63 seconds finishing ahead of Summer Hill from Honesdale. Hill came in second in 4:58.78 seconds. Hill held the record for one year set in 2012.
Meanwhile in the boy's 1600 meter won Holy Cross senior Rico Galassi took home the gold medal with a winning time of 4:22.26. Galassi finished in second place last year in the PIAA State meet in the boy's 3200 meter run behind Brendan Shearn from North Schuylkill.
