Services for Bishop McFadden Began Sunday

HARRISBURG — The Diocese of Harrisburg released that Bishop Joseph McFadden died of a heart attack.

According to a statement released Sunday afternoon, Bishop McFadden called a monsignor early Thursday morning and said he thought he was having a heart attack. Bishop McFadden was in Philadelphia for a meeting with other bishops.

As the monsignor was rushing McFadden to a hospital, the bishop passed away.

Services for the bishop began Sunday night in Harrisburg with a rite of reception of the body. Public viewings will be held Monday and Tuesday, before Wednesday’s funeral mass in Dauphin County.
