SCRANTON -- Hundreds came out to Nay Aug Park in Scranton, for the Children's Advocacy Center's 9th annual Moonlight Walk/Run on Sunday.

The event began with a family festival featuring a variety of children's activities, games and entertainment.

There was also a moment of silence for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

And just before sunset, the 5k and 10k walk/run stepped off in the park.

All money raised benefits the Children's Advocacy Center of Northeast Pennsylvania, which helps treat victims of child abuse in eight counties.

"Most people don't understand child abuse or understand the resources that are there.  People are still afraid to talk about it," said Kelly George.   "Being here they realize there's a safe place for kids that kids can get the help they need."

Newswatch 16's Sharla McBride volunteered at the event, and was there to cheer on all the runners and walkers.
