MOOSIC -- A protest was held Saturday in Lackawanna County, aimed at getting the state to pass tougher animal abuse laws.
Protesters were in the Moosic neighborhood of John Tanis III.
He is awaiting trial on animal cruelty charges.
Protestors told Newswatch 16 that the issue is bigger than just one man. They want to see the state take action to protect animals by creating an animal abuser registry, similar to the one that tracks sex offenders.
They also are hoping a proposed animal cruelty bill is voted into law in Harrisburg.
