MOOSIC -- The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders reached .500  with an 8-1 win over the Syracuse Chiefs on Monday at PNC Field.

And a big bottom frame in the third inning was a big  reason, with the RailRiders scoring four runs with RBI's from Thomas Neil, Zoilo Almonte, and Austine Romine.

The bottom half of the sixth inning was another big inning for the RailRiders, scoring three runs with RBI's from Thomas Neil and Gil Velazquez. Neil, Velazquez and Melky Mesa each had two hits on the evening.

Syracuse's only run came in the top of the fifth inning on a Jeff Kobernus single. Kobernus finished 1-4 on the evening.

Chrish Bootcheck earned his second win for the RailRiders, while former Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankee Ross Ohlendorf suffered the loss for Syracuse.

The RailRiders improve to 8-8 and the Chiefs fall to 7-10. Syracuse heads back home to take on the Rochester Red Wings, while the RailRiders host the Columbus Clippers in a four game series beginning Tuesday at 6:35.
