JIM THORPE -- The remains of one of America's greatest athletes could soon be removed from the borough that's been named after him.

Jim Thorpe's remains have been buried in the community for decades. But
on Friday, a United States district judge ruled in favor of Thorpe's sons, who want their father's remains buried back on American Indian land in Oklahoma, Thorpe's birthplace.

The news is hitting hard for some residents.

"Who is the government to come in and say that you need to be removed, and step over the closest family who made the decision," questioned Nature's Trail Owner Anne Marie Fitzpatrick.

The mayor of Jim Thorpe says borough council and its legal advisors will meet this week to learn more about the ruling and decide the next action to take in Carbon County.
