SCRANTON -- People gathered at a school in Scranton on Monday evening to honor a late teacher.
Officials with the Scranton School District joined students at West Scranton High School for the dedication of a courtyard in memory of Biology teacher Diane Davis Marinchak.
She died earlier this year.
Her students told Newswatch 16 she is already sorely missed.
"She was such a great person and I'm going to miss her so much, said student Annie White. "I cried when we were all singing about her. She was just a loving, caring person."
Besides being a teacher at West Scranton, Diane Davis Marinchak was also a 1970 graduate of West Scranton High School.
Students lit a lantern and launched it into the sky as part of the ceremony in Scranton.
