The annual Blue and White game at Beaver Stadium allowed fans to see the future stars of Penn State football. An open quarterback competition continues between sophomore Steven Bench and Junior College transfer Tyler Ferguson before the arrival of prized recruit Christian Hackenberg this summer.
"I thought they both had some nice throws and just like everything coaches and players included in every game that you play you wish you had some plays back. I'm sure they do too. I thought they both did some descent things out there today," said Bill O'Brien.
The Nittany Lions are coming off an (8-4) season for second year head coach Bill O'Brien. If the Lions find their QB this offense has the parts to score 30pts. a game.
"We had a very productive spring. We got in my opinion some core tough football players," again said Bill.
"We had a solid performance out there today for the most part. There's room for improvement as the summer goes on. As we work out more as a unit we'll get better. We'll get the kinks wrinkled out," said Eric Shrive.
Penn State has the top core of Tight ends in the country in Jesse James, Matt Lehman and Kyle Carter and a stable of running backs with Bill Belton, Akeel Lynch and 1,000 yard rusher from a year ago in Zach Zwinak.
"I think I'm finally happy because I'm playing in Beaver Stadium. This is something I dreamed about since I grabbed that Penn State jacket as an 8-year-old and actually coming out and playing in Beaver Stadium finally getting a grass stain on my jersey. It's a dream come true all smiles," said Akeel Lynch
Defensively Deion Barnes emerged as a star last season, this year Valley View graduate and Penn State freshman Nyeem Wartman is showing similar signs.
"As long as they stay focused and keep doing the things we tell them we have a great coach at linebacker who's going to coach these guys up and get them ready to be a the certain spot and depth and play their role and do the things they need to do," said Glenn Carson.
"I'm just trying to learn. I have big shoes to fill. We're all just trying to get better so we'll season how the season goes. It's a long ways away. We still have fall camp," said Nyeem Wartman.
Penn State opens up the 2013 season with Syracuse at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey.
